Frequently asked questions
How do I get a price?
Send us your documents through the contact form or by email. The price depends on the document, languages, destination country and urgency, so every quote is personalized and free.
Do you work with people living abroad?
Yes. Many of our clients live in the diaspora. Most procedures can be done with a signed authorization, and we send documents by email or international courier.
How will I receive my documents?
As you prefer: by email (PDF), in person, or by courier in Haiti and abroad. Apostilled or legalized documents are delivered as originals.
Which areas do you cover?
All 10 departments of Haiti: Ouest, Nord, Nord-Est, Nord-Ouest, Artibonite, Centre, Sud, Sud-Est, Grand'Anse and Nippes.
Are my documents safe?
Yes. Your documents are handled confidentially and shared only with the translators, notaries or authorities who need to work on them.
Which languages do you translate?
Creole, French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, Arabic, and other languages on request.
Will immigration accept my translation?
Our translations include a certification statement, which is what most immigration services ask for, including USCIS in the United States. Some countries, such as France or Germany, may require a translator sworn in that country. Tell us the destination and we will provide the right type of translation.
Do I need to send the original document?
For a quote, a clear scan or photo is enough. Depending on the destination, the original may be needed to attach the translation or for legalization; we will tell you in advance.
What is the difference between an apostille and a legalization?
An apostille is a single certificate recognized by every country party to the Hague Convention. Legalization is a chain of several steps (ministry, then the destination country's embassy or consulate) for countries that are not parties or that require it.
Does the document also need a translation?
Often, yes. If the destination country does not use the document's language, a translation of the document and the apostille may be required. We handle all steps together.
Do I need to be present for the legalization?
In most cases, no. A signed authorization lets us file and collect the documents on your behalf, unless the authority requires you to appear in person.
Which embassies do you work with?
We work with embassies and consulates represented in Haiti and, through our international offices, with consulates abroad. Tell us the country and we will check its requirements.
Do I need to bring the original?
Yes, the notary must compare the copy with the original. We will tell you where and when to drop it off, or how to send it to us securely.
Are Haitian certified copies accepted abroad?
Many countries accept them, often with an apostille or legalization. We check the destination's requirements in advance.
I live abroad. How do I make a power of attorney for Haiti?
You sign it before a notary where you live; it then needs an apostille or legalization and, if required, a French translation. Our international offices can help at every step.
What information do you need?
Full names and ID of the person granting the power and the person receiving it, plus a clear description of the powers granted.
I live abroad. Can you get my birth certificate?
Yes. We need a signed authorization, a copy of your ID and details about the record. We then send the document to you wherever you are.
What information do you need for a birth certificate?
Full name, date and place of birth, parents' names and, if you have them, the record number, register and civil registrar. An old copy helps a lot.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible, especially for simultaneous interpreting or missions outside Port-au-Prince. For urgent needs, contact us anyway and we will do our best.
Do your interpreters travel to the provinces?
Yes, we cover every department. Travel and accommodation costs are included in the quote.
