Apostille

Authentication of public documents for Hague Convention countries.

Get a free quote

Haiti has joined the Hague Apostille Convention, so many Haitian public documents can be authenticated with a single apostille instead of the full legalization chain. We prepare your file, check signatures and stamps, and follow it through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAE) in Port-au-Prince.

We also handle apostilles for documents issued abroad, for example a US, Canadian or European document to be used in Haiti, or a translation that needs an apostille in the country where it was certified. Some countries still require consular legalization for Haitian documents: we check this before anything is submitted.

What we handle

  • Archive extracts: birth, marriage, death, divorce
  • Diplomas and transcripts
  • Court rulings and notarial deeds
  • Police certificates (criminal record)
  • Company and commercial documents
  • Certified translations and certified true copies

Prices vary with the document, languages, destination country and urgency. That is why we prepare a personalized quote, free and with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an apostille and a legalization?

An apostille is a single certificate recognized by every country party to the Hague Convention. Legalization is a chain of several steps (ministry, then the destination country's embassy or consulate) for countries that are not parties or that require it.

Does the document also need a translation?

Often, yes. If the destination country does not use the document's language, a translation of the document and the apostille may be required. We handle all steps together.

How long does it take?

It depends on the issuing authority and the ministry's processing times when we file. We give you an estimate with your quote and keep you informed at each step.
